The Mendelssohn Festival opens with a benefit concert for the Mendelssohn House Leipzig. Anne-Sophie Mutter, Pablo Ferrández and Elena Bashkirova span a musical arc between Felix Mendelssohn, his sister Fanny Hensel and the married couple Clara and Robert Schumann. A program that makes personal references, mutual influences and the polyphony of Romanticism audible.
During the concert, the Leipzig International Mendelssohn Prize will be awarded for musical and European commitment in the spirit of Mendelssohn.
