Welcome to our digital library presenting Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s printed works.
Since 2009 the Mendelssohn-House has sheltered not only the museum in the composers last residence, but also one of the most extensive collections of first and early prints of Mendelssohn’s works. The precious collection had been compiled by the british collector Macnutt during more than 30 years. Generous donations rendered the purchase of the collection possible. We would like to invite everybody interested in Mendelssohn’s music to browse the archive.
Thanks to the financial support of the German Federal Commissioner for Cultural and Media Affairs and the Sparkasse Leipzig the project could be initiated and a selection of first prints presented.
Enlarged by further acquisitions in 2010 the complete asset is gradually digitalized and released on the internet.
The order follows Ralf Wehner’s Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Thematic-Systematic Catalogue of the Musical Works (MWV)
Different editions of a work are arranged according to the date of publication.
